So I came up with this idea a while ago and now i think its ready to try at an open mic, take a look for yourselves and let me know if its worth doing!
This Saturday why not come and see what talent Hull has to offer on the comedy stylings! also added to the lineup is “Jack Gleadow” following from his fist ever storming of a gig at the Union Mash!! It’s only £5 on the door, that’s 9 acts for a fiver!! Credit crunch busting comedy!!
As the opening act I was sent in to test the water, the gig went ok for me but I just wasn’t feeling up to my normal standard, I started with a new bit which wasn’t a good move, I should have left it out as it gave the start to my set a slow uptake, My normal opener is quick and bouncy, oh well you live and learn or something like that.
The high point of the whole gig was seeing The Live Naked Idiots headline (Click here) They really threw some energy back into a now cold gig, I would highly recommend anyone to see them, I especially liked the song they did in a retort to the soldiers wives song that was number 1 last year.
So I headlined the Charlotte monthly comedy night in Crayford, I was a bit hesitant about this one having not done a gig in a while and even contemplated pulling out on it, but as I have had to cancel twice before I decided just to man up!! And I’m glad I did, what a good gig, every act hit it hard and the punters loved each and every one of them! I personally liked Bobby Freeman, he was high energy and punchy with the laughter, I’m glad there was a few acts between us before I went on! It was a small break to set my projector up then headline time! I was asked to do 20 min and ended up doing 25 but all was good and all went well, I don’t know what I was worried about! On to the next!!
The Union Mash Up was a success, there was a full room and they where all up for comedy, Jed Salisbury broke his MC cherry and did a Stirling job of it!!
As part of my set i often find a pretty girl in the audience and on this occasion the room was full of them! I however chose one right in the front row and as always I used the” are you here with your brother line” referring to the guy to her right, For the first time ever it actually was!! that’s the rest of that part of my set out of the window! however the girl in question was up for a laugh and her brother didn’t mind as I found out he was an RAF Weapons technician, (RAF EOD) I just went ahead with the normal banter with his sister, to witch she played along sportingly.
Throughout my set I had really good responses and could even put this one down to one of the best Hull gigs I’ve done!
Edinburgh ended on an AMAZING high! Packed out room and had Kate Copstick in the audience to review our show. She gave us a four star review and is adding us to her “One to watch out for next year” list.
Then for a 5 hour drive home, one hour power nap and three cans of Red Bull (comedians catnip). It was off to the Four in Hand Pub for a “Cash For Kids” Fundraiser. The gig had a fairly rowdy crowd and we had some technical issues but this gradually turned in to a brilliant gig. I also met the best Adam Sandler lookalike, ever!
Last night we had such a tough show, We only had 11 in our audience, I think this is a result of our own cockiness, as our previous shows were full, with little flyering effort so we didn’t even bother at all, the people that did wander in were not prepared for what was coming we are after all the, CUSTARD CHUCKERS, (Google it) Normally I don’t do rude comedy but for this show I do so everyone is prepped for what is coming. But this show had sweet old people in and a mum with her son, so I was just nice Steve, It was ok for me, however Nathan AKA “The Custard Chucker” found it really tough.
Tonight is another gig, and informing a potential audience what is about to go down, Plus tonight I’m doing a spot so I’m doing my cheeky set. 😆

Highlights of the day was, Shouting of Tom Stade, And his reply was to turn around as point at us saying “Hey,,,,I don’t know you guys!
We finished the night going to the late and live gilded balloon, Where I was actually recognized by famous comedian, Patrick Monahan!! we had a good chat about me still doing that Bomb Disposal thing!
